Original WW2 Women's Auxiliary Air Force Officer's Peaked Cap

A very nice original Women's Auxiliary Air Force Cap dating from the Second World War.

This pattern of cap was worn throughout the Second World War by officer's serving in the WAAF. This example is typical of wartime produced caps and is made from the standard RAF blue grey coloured barathea wool and features a stitched peak, black patent leather chin strap and black mohair band. To this band is fitted an original King's crown RAF officer's cap badge. The cap features a skirt which is again stitched and found behind this are black coloured cloth covered buttons which are original to the cap. There is a single black painted metal grommet fitted to each side of the crown for air circulation.

Inside the cap is lined with a pink coloured rayon material which is typical of the period. There are no labels or markings to the interior and any which were original present have been worn away with use.

The cap is a small size which measures 20 1/2".

The cap is in good condition and displays very nicely. It shows signs of service wear and use with plenty of soiling to the interior. There are no serious flaws or damage and overall it is a very nice example. It is however a vintage, pre-worn item so may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A very nice example of this hard to find and sought after pattern of wartime cap. This would make a great addition to any collection!
