Code: 54323

SOLD

An original Women's United States Navy Nurse Corps Blue Service Dress tunic dating from the Second World War and in good condition.

This pattern of tunic was worn throughout WW2 and was replaced with a new single breasted pattern in 1948 when the W.A.V.E.S were formed. It is modelled on the men's jacket and features a double breasted front which fastens with US Navy Buttons. There is a welt pocket to the breast and two more to the skirt whilst a single ring of rank braid is fitted to the end of each sleeve which denotes the rank of ensign. There is a bullion anchor device above this on each sleeve which are clearly original to the jacket.

Inside the jacket features a full lining and a single interior pocket. Above this are the original owners initials of 'JLH' and below it is the original military label. Inside the pocket is a third label which has space for a name, date and the contract number of 504.

When laid flat the jacket measures -

Bust - 18"
Waist - 15 1/2"
Inside arm - 15 3/4"
Outside arm - 23"
Shoulders - 15 1/2"
Length at back - 23"

The jacket is in good condition with no serious signs of wear or use. Overall it displays very well and is still very wearable. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that it is a pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice original WW2 women's jacket in good condition.
