Original WW2 British Nurse's 'Slacks Mosquito'

Original WW2 British Nurse's 'Slacks Mosquito'

Code: 52655

SOLD

A scarce original pair of Nurse's Khaki Drill trousers dating from the Second World War.

This pattern of trousers was introduced as part of a full anti mosquito uniform designed for nurses to wear in the tropics. They were issued alongside a KD bush jacket which had removable sleeves, spats, gloves and an anti mosquito netted hood. The trousers themselves are made from the standard khaki coloured cotton drill and are cut with a very wide leg as was fashionable at the time. The slacks fasten at the side with removeable revolving shank buttons and the rear of the waist features a hidden elastic section which has cotton tabs on each end which can be fastened onto the side buttons to change the size of the waist.

Inside the trousers the original label is still present and whilst it is faded the title of 'Slacks, Mosquito' can still be made out as can the size of 5 and the War Department broad arrow marking. When laid flat the trousers measure -

Waist - 16"
Hips - 22 1/2"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 17 1/2"
Inside leg - 27"
Outside leg - 39 1/2"
Cuff - 10 1/2"

The trousers are in reasonable condition for their age and appear to be very wearable. There is no serious damage or wear but there is plenty of staining. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a vintage pair of pre-owned trousers which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A rare pair of wartime women's trousers!
