An original Auxiliary Territorial Service Field Service coloured side cap dating from the Second World War.
This pattern of cap was worn throughout WW2 as an alternative to the ski cap. The body of the hat is made from a brown coloured wool whilst the inside of the crown is orange. Blue piping is present to the edge of the skirt and the crown and a brass ATS cap badge is fitted to the front and back with a piece of red felt. Two brass general service buttons are fitted to the front and the cap is lined in rayon. There is a size label inside which denotes the size of the cap as a 7.
The hat is in reasonably good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are some limited signs of wear and age and some limited moth damage to the skirt which is illustrated in the pictures. There is also a small amount to the orange piece inset into the crown although this isn't visible when worn or displayed.
A good original cap from the Second World War.
