An original Nurse wool cape dating from the first half of the twentieth Century in good condition.
This style of cape was worn by various nursing services during both World Wars as well as in the inter-war period. Due to the lack of labels and classic design, it is impossible to date the cape exactly. It was possibly originally worn by a member of the Volunteer Aid Detachment or St John Ambulance.
The cape is made from a dark navy blue coloured serge wool and features a three button fastening to the front with a metal hook and eye fastening to the neck. The interior is lined with a grey wool shirting material and has internal straps made from the same material which hold the cape onto the wearers body. A small interior pocket is also present which is a nice detail.
The cape is in good condition with some signs of age and wear. Overall it displays well but please remember that this is a pre-worn vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original vintage nursing cape which would make a great addition to any wardrobe or collection!
