Original 1947 Dated 1941 Pattern ATS Service Dress Tunic - Size 17

An original 1941 Pattern Auxiliary Territorial Services Service Dress Tunic dated 1947 and in a size 17.

This pattern of tunic was introduced in 1941 and replaced the earlier pattern introduced when the ATS was formed in 1948. It is essentially an econmy patten of the early tunic featuring plain patch pockets and simplified pocket flaps to the chest and a full waistbely which improved the fit of the jacket. Whilst it is 1947 dated its is identical to WW2 issue examples. 

The tunic retains its original belt with brass waist buckle and is fitted with brass Kings corwn general service buttons. There are no shoulder titles are collar badges fitted and no evidence of them being fitted previously.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present and reads 'Jackets, Serge, A.T.S 1941 Pattern' underwhich is the size of 17 which fits 5'9 - 5' 10" tall with a 35-36" bust and 27-28" waist. The manufacturers name of 'Moore Taggart & Co LTD' is present as is the 1947 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.

The tunic is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. There are some white marks to the lining and also a small moth graze to the rear of one of the sleeves as shown in the pictures. Overall it displays well but may have other small issues commensurate with age. 

A nice original WW2 pattern tunic in wearable condition.
