A scarce original Civil Nursing Reserve double breasted raincoat in un-issued condition.
This coat was issued to Nursing Auxiliaries serving with the Civil Nursing Reserve during the Second World War. The coat is of double breasted design and made from a grey coloured gabardine wool. It features a matching belt with leather covered buckle, pockets to the hips, button and tab detail to the cuff and red edging to the collar.
The interior is fully lined and retains its original label which bears the title 'Coat, Rainproof, Civil Nursing Reserve' and the size of 6 which is designed to fit a 34" to 36" bust and a height of 5' 5" to 5' 6". The date of July 1941 is present as is the makers name 'Henry Freedman, Ltd' of Leeds. The War Department label is also present to the bottom of the label.
When laid flat the coat measures -
Chest - 18 1/2"
Inside arm - 16 3/4"
Outside arm - 23 3/4"
Shoulders - 15 1/2"
Length - 45 1/2"
The coat is in un-issued, unworn condition but does have some small issues due to age and time spent in storage. There is a limited amount of staining and a few holes which are detailed in the pictures. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage item with some issues commensurate with age.
All in all a fantastic piece of women's uniform from the Second World War, complete with its original label and belt. This is a must have for the serious women's uniform collector!
