A rare example of an Auxiliary Territorial Service Battledress Blouse dated 1945 and in a size 7.

This pattern of battledress was produced for members of the ATS during WW2 who were convalescing. It is made from the same bright blue colour as the men's hospital blue uniform and was intended to be issued with a matching skirt. It is cut in the same manner as the austerity pattern ATS battledress jacket and features exposed buttons which are all black plastic examples. The front features two plain patch pockets and the waist belt fastens with a wire type buckle.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title 'Blouse Hospital ATS' below which is the size of 7. The maker's name of 'L. Harris' is also present as is the 1945 date and the War Department broad arrow. Below the label is the War Department acceptance stamp.

When laid flat the jacket measures -

Chest - 23"
Waist - 14"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 23 3/4"
Shoulders - 16"
Length at back - 21"

The jacket is in reasonable condition for its age with some signs of wear and age. There is some moth damage and some dark marks which are illustrated in the pictures. Overall it displays well enough and is still wearable but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice and hard to find piece of wartime women's uniform with a good clear label.
