An original 1941 Pattern Auxiliary Territorial Service tunic dated 1942 which is a size No. 7.

Officially designated  'Jacket, Serge, A.T.S 1941 Pattern' and is sometimes referred to as the Second Pattern Tunic or Economy Tunic. It features a 4 button front and plain patch pockets to the chest whilst the skirt features flapped pockets. Epaulettes are located to the shoulders and are fitted with brass ATS shoulder titles and an ATS lanyard is fitted through the right hand epaulette. Sergeant stripes are fitted to each sleeve and have been 'blancoed' with white blanco to make them stand out more - a fairly common period addition to find. The tunic also comes complete with its original matching waist belt which has a brass two pronged buckle.

Inside the tunic the tunic features a full lining as well as a First Field Dress pocket and a hanging loop to the neck. The original label is also still present and is bright and legible. It bears the size of 7 which is designed to fit a 37" - 38" bust and a 29" - 30" waist. The maker's name of 'Cohen & Wilks Ltd'  is present as is the 1942 dated and the War Department broad arrow.

When laid flat the tunic measures -

Chest - 17 1/2"
Waist - 14 1/2"
Inside arm - 16 1/2"
Outside arm - 22 3/4"
Shoulders - 15"
Length at back - 25"

The overall condition of the tunic is reasonably good with some signs of wear and use. There is some moth damage which is illustrated in the pictures and reflected in the price. Please take time to study these before purchasing as the jacket does have some flaws.

Whilst there is some damage this is still a good original wartime dated example which displays well and has some nice period badges fitted which are original to the jacket.
