Original WW2 British Army Officer's Khaki Drill Shorts - Attributed

Code: 55533

SOLD

An original pair of Khaki Drill shorts dating from the Second World War. These shorts belonged to Major B D Ashton who was a member of the Royal Army Service Corps in the inter-war period and served throughout the Second World War. He was awarded the North Africa Star, Italy Star and France and Germany Star so he certainly saw some action.

The shorts are private purchase examples as were often worn by officers during WW2. Based on the construction and stitching it is most likely that they are 'theatre made' examples. The shorts are made from a tan khaki coloured cotton drill material and feature a high rise waist and button fly. Some of the buttons are horn whilst others are stamped brass period replacements. Belt loops are located around the waist and a First Field Dressing pocket is fitted to the rear. This is fastened with a replacement button which is of European (German?) origin.

The shorts will fit someone of around a 35" waist and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 17 1/2"
Rise - 17 1/2"
Rear rise - 21 1/2"
Inside leg - 7"
Calf - 7"
Cuff - 13 1/2"

The shorts are in well worn condition as can be seen in the pictures. They are still wearable but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a pre-worn, vintage item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A genuine pair of WW2 attributed shorts in a hard to find larger size.
