Original WW2 US Navy Crackerjack Jumper

Original WW2 US Navy Crackerjack Jumper

Code: 53931

SOLD

An original U.S. Navy Enlisted Dress Blue Uniform, or 'crackerjack', jumper dating from the Second World War and in good condition.

This pattern of jumper was worn with the matching trousers and saw widespread issue for many decades. It is cut in the traditional manner used from the 19th Century and through the 20th Century. It is made from a dark blue coloured wool and features an opening at the neck and a large collar which sits across the shoulders and down the back. There is a small chest pocket and a ruptured duck badge has been fitted to the other side of the chest which denotes that the owner was discharged from service. There is also a Third Class Petty Officer badge fitted to the left sleeve.

The original label is still present to the underside of the collar and it bears the original owner's name in ink.

When laid flat the jumper measures -

Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 20 1/2"
Outside arm - 26"
Shoulders - 17"
Length - 24 1/2"

The jumper is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. It has no serious signs of wear or use and displays very well. It has clearly been well looked after and was quite possibly a part of a 'best' uniform for walking out. It is however a vintage item so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

A nice original US Navy uniform item.
