An original United States Army Reversible Ski Parka dating from the Second World War and in good condition.
Introduced in July of 1942, this was the second pattern of parka to be produced by the United States during WW2. It was superseded by the 'Parka, Field, Cotton, OD' before the end of the war making this a wartime example.
The coat is made from a green coloured cotton sateen material and features buttoning slash pockets and a full length brass 'Talon' zipper to the front. A fur trimmed hood is also present which features a drawstring and there is a second drawstring to the bottom hem. A buttoning tab is located to the end of each cuff and there is a press stud in the hood to make it smaller. The parka is reversible meaning that it can be turned inside out and worn with the white coloured fabric to the exterior, ideal for fighting in snowy conditions or similar.
The jacket is a small size which will suit around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 21"
Inside arm - 25"
Outside arm - 23"
Shoulders -20 1/2"
Length - 31"
The coat is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. There is some staining (most notably on the white side) and there is a period repair below the right pocket on the green side. Overall it displays well and is still very wearable but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
