An original pair of US Army M1943 Trousers in used condition.
This pattern of trousers was introduced in the middle of the Second World War alongside the M1943 Combat Jacket. Officially designated 'Trousers, Field, Cotton OD', these trousers saw extensive issue with US units during the last two years of the war, especially in the ETO.
Made from an olive drab coloured cotton sateen, these trousers were designed to be worn over wool trousers. They feature a button fly, ankle tabs to the bottom of the leg and angled slash pockets to the hips. The rear of the trousers feature two welt pockets and belt loops are fitted around the waist. Waist adjusters are also present to each hip.
Inside the trousers the original size stamp is still present and reads 30x32 although the true measurement is smaller. Below this is the original label which has been washed out leaving none of the details legible. There is another label situated to the right hand pocket bag which again has been washed out.
The trousers will suit someone of around a 30" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 15 1/2"
Rise - 11 1/2"
Rear rise - 15"
Inside leg - 28 1/2"
Outside leg - 39 1/2"
Cuff - 8 1/2"
The trousers are in good wearable condition and display well. There are some signs of wear and use as can be seen in the pictures. There is a period repair running around the crotch seam as detailed in the pictures . Please take time to study them and bear in mind that these are a vintage pair of pre-worn military trousers which may have small issues commensurate with age.
All in all a nice original pair of wartime US M43 combat trousers in good wearable condition.
