An original pair of US Army M1943 Trousers in good condition.
This pattern of trousers was introduced in the middle of the Second World War alongside the M1943 Combat Jacket. Officially designated 'Trousers, Field, Cotton OD', these trousers saw extensive issue with US units during the last two years of the war, especially in the ETO.
Made from an olive drab coloured cotton sateen and were designed to be worn over wool trousers. They feature a button fly, ankle tabs to the bottom of the leg and angled slash pockets to the hips. The rear of the trousers feature two welt pockets and belt loops are fitted around the waist. Waist adjusters are also present to each hip.
Inside the trousers the original size stamp is still present and reads 28x30. Below this is a contract number. Interesting, a piece of khaki cotton drill has been added to the interior below the waistband. This is clearly a period addition.
The trousers will suit someone of around a 30" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 15"
Rise - 12"
Inside leg - 28"
Outside leg - 39 1/2"
Cuff - 9 1/2"
The trousers are in good wearable condition and display well. There are some signs of wear and use as can be seen in the pictures. There are some period darns and wear to the bottom of each leg. Please take time to study them and bear in mind that these are a vintage pair of pre-worn military trousers which may have small issues commensurate with age.
All in all a nice original pair of wartime US M43 combat trousers in good wearable condition.
