An original WW2 United States Army Second Pattern Herringbone Twill jacket in a size 36.
This pattern of jacket was introduced to replace the first pattern example and saw service throughout the rest of the war. The jacket is made from the herringbone twill material used for all US Army workwear during the Second World War and is fitted with metal 13 star buttons throughout. The jacket features large pockets to the chest which are the most obvious piece of design found on the second pattern jacket. The cuffs can be fastened around the wearer's wrists in two positions and two more 13 star buttons are located to the rear of the collar. The gas flap is also still present.
The jacket has been fitted with a 29th Infantry Division to the top of the left sleeve and both sleeves feature Staff Sergeant rank badges.
The original size tag is still present to the neck and reads 36R. It will easily fit up to a modern 40" chest and when laid flat the jacket measures -
Chest - 23 1/2"
Inside arm - 20 1/2"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 20"
Length - 28"
The jacket is in good condition with some signs of wear and use. The jacket is still very wearable but please study the pictures carefully before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn vintage jacket which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A good original WW2 fatigue jacket!
