An original American Officers shirt in a less common green shade and a large wearable size.
This shirt is typical of those worn by American Army and USAAF officers during the Second World War. It features a full button front, two patch pockets, double button cuff and epaulettes. The collar is a spearpoint shape as was the fashion in the 1940s and the left breast pocket has an inner pen pocket which is common to find with these shirts.
Inside the collar of the shirt the original makers label is still present. It reads 'Officers Army Regulation, Form Fit, 100% Pure Virgin Wool, Styled By Yale'. It is again typical of those found in shirts from the Second World War. The original owner also added a name tag above the label which reads 'Franz J. Maier'.
Apart from the fact that overall this is a very nice example of a wartime officers shirt, what really sets it off is the C.B.I patch on the left sleeve. It is a stunning example of the patch and has been added to the shirt beautifully.
The shirt is a good size measuring 22" pit to pit when laid flat, and has a 22" inside arm and 25 1/2" outside arm. The collar is also very generous measuring at 16 1/2" and the shoulders measure at 19".
The condition of the shirt is very good as can be seen in the pictures. The are two very small, almost pin hole size holes to the sleeves and another to the body as well as wear to one sleeve in the elbow region. These are all detailed in the pictures so please study them carefully.
All in all a very nice original WW2 US shirt in a larger wearable size and complete with a stunning original patch. This would make an excellent addition to any collection, without a doubt.
