An original United States Navy wool jumper dating from the 1950s.
This pattern of jumper was issued in WW2 and through to the 1960s, remaining unchanged in design during the entire period. The Jumper is machine knitted from a navy blue wool and features a short stand collar. In keeping with the period it is cut short in body as it was designed to be worn with high waisted trousers.
Inside the jumper the original label is still present and bears the words 'Name' and 'rate'. It is typically USN in design.
The jumper is a smaller size which would suit someone of around a 34-36" chest depending on desired fit. Whe laid flat it measures -
Chest - 18"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 19"
Length - 23"
The sweater is in good wearable condition with limted signs of wear and use. There is a hole to the rear of the left shoulder which has had a couple of stitches put in it to stop it from running. Aside from this flaw the jumper displays well.
A nice original period piece of vintage military knitwear.
