An original pair of 1945 dated US Army M1943 Trousers in good condition.
This pattern of trousers was introduced in the middle of the Second World War alongside the M1943 Combat Jacket. Officially designated 'Trousers, Field, Cotton OD', these trousers saw extensive issue with US units during the last two years of the war, especially in the ETO.
Made from an olive drab coloured cotton sateen and were designed to be worn over wool trousers. They feature a button fly, ankle tabs to the bottom of the leg and angled slash pockets to the hips. The rear of the trousers feature two welt pockets and belt loops are fitted around the waist. Waist adjusters are also present although a couple of buttons have been removed.
Inside the trousers both the original labels are still present. The larger of the two is still legible and bears instructions pertaining to fitment. The standard makers label is also present to the right hand pocket bag and is faded. The 1945 date is still legible as is this size of 36x34. This size is also printed in ink on the inside of the waistband.
The trousers are a good tall size as stated on the labels. When laid flat they measure -
Waist - 17 3/4"
Rise - 14 1/4"
Rear rise - 19"
Inside leg - 33 1/2"
Outside leg - 47 1/2"
Cuff - 10"
The trousers are in good wearable condition and display well. There are some signs of wear and use as can be seen in the pictures. Please take time to study them and bear in mind that these are a vintage pair of pre-worn military trousers which may have small issues commensurate with age.
All in all a nice original pair of wartime US M43 combat trousers in good wearable condition.
