An original US Army Officers Tunic Dated 1942 and in a size 37 Regular.
Made from the standard regulation O.D. Dark Elastique material, this tunic follows the correct pattern for US Army and US Army Air Forces Officers during the Second World War. It features pleated chest pockets, lower flapped pockets, epaulettes and the braid worn on the cuff of all US officers tunics. It also comes complete with it’s original waist belt and buckle.
Inside the tunic the original labels are still present. The first reads ‘Regulation Officers Uniform’ and is a common label to find in WW2 period items. Inside the interior pocket is the original issue label which states ‘Coat, Service, Officers Code No. 806’ and is dated August 11th 1942. It also states the size as 37R.
When laid flat the tunic measures -
Chest - 19 1/2”
Waist - 16 1/2”
Inside arm - 18 1/2”
Outside arm - 24 2/2”
Shoulders - 18”
Length - 31 1/2”
The condition of the tunic is reasonable for its age but it has suffered from some moth damage, mainly to the sleeves but there is also a small section to the rear of the collar and some to the front of the jacket. As the tunic is made from a dark material it isn’t overly noticeable but please study the pictures as they form part of the description.
A reasonable example of an early war US tunic which could suit a collector or re-enactor. Whilst not the finest condition, this has been reflected in the price.
