Scarce Original RAF Ordinary Airman's Black Tie

Scarce Original RAF Ordinary Airman's Black Tie

Code: 55421

An extremely scarce example of an RAF Ordinary Airman’s tie.

This pattern of tie was worn by all ranks up to and including flight sergeants. They were also worn by members of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force of the corresponding ranks.

The construction of the tie is typical of the period being made from a single piece of fabric. It is very short in length which again is standard for 1940s ties and has a partial hessian liner. The original label is still present and it is bright and legible. It bears the War Department broad arrow marking along with maker's name 'J. P. & Co. London) Ltd'.

The tie is in good condition for its age with some signs of wear, use and age. Overall it displays well and could still be worn but does have a couple of small holes which are illustrated in the pictures and reflected in the price.

A very rare original OA item to find today, complete with its original label. Ideal for an RAF or WAAF impression or mannequin!
