A rare original 1941 dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Tabbed collar in a size 15.
This is the early pattern of collar which was used in the pre-war period and in the first part of the Second World War. It is made from the correct blue cotton which was used for Ordinary Airman's shirts and features two tabs which fasten onto the collar stud behind the tie and keep the collar in place. These tabs were deleted as an austerity measure in 1941 and are now extremely hard to find.
The collar retains all of its original markings including the Air Ministry AM and crown mark, the size of 15 and the 1941 contract number.
The collar is in good condition with no real signs of wear or use. It displays well and is still wearable.
A rare piece of Battle of Britain period uniform which is hard to find today.
