A nice original attributed Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Tunic which was made in 1942.

This tunic belonged to 743747 Sergeant W. J. Tyler who joined the RAF in 1937 and served throughout the Second World War with Bomber Command. He served in Great Britain as well as in the Middle East and was mentioned in dispatches prior to the 1st of January 1945.

This tunic is the standard pattern worn by all men in the RAF under the rank of sergeant throughout the Second World War. It features a complete set of original brass Kings crown buttons, wartime semi-embroidered eagle badges to the top of each sleeve and sergeant stripes are fitted below these. The tunic comes complete with its original matching waist belt with brass buckle. Medal ribbons are fitted to the breast above the left chest pocket and include the North Africa Star. Following this there is a piece of RAF blue grey coloured serge material to which the Mentioned in Dispatches oak leaf would have previously been attached.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present and bears the title 'Jackets O.A.' below which is the size of 10. The maker's name of 'L. Harris Ltd' is present as is the 1942 date.

The jacket is in good condition with signs of wear and use. It displays well with no serious flaws aside from some loss of stitching to the sergeant stripes. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

The tunic comes complete with some paperwork which belonged to the original owner and includes two small pictures of the man himself.

A nice original wartime tunic which comes complete with its original insignia and paperwork.
