Original 1949 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Trousers - Size 27

Original 1949 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Trousers - Size 27

Code: 52720

SOLD

A good original pair of RAF Ordinary Airman's trousers made in 1949 which are identical to wartime pattern.

This pattern of trousers came into use with the RAF during the 1930s and stayed in service well into the 1950s. The trousers feature a fishtail back, a slash pocket to each hip and black plastic brace buttons around the outside of the trousers. The same style of black buttons are used to fasten the fly.

The original label is still present inside the trousers and is bright and legible. It states the size as No.27 which will fit a 33-34" waist. The manufacturer's name is marked as 'H. Lottery & Co Ltd'. Below this is the 1949 date and the War Department broad arrow marking. A purple issue stamp can also be seen on the label and reads 'DEC 1949'.

The trousers will suit someone of around a 30" waist and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 15 1/2"
Inside leg - 30"

The trousers are in good condition with some areas of staining and wear. There are also a couple of small holes to the crotch which can be seen in picture 3 but overall they are a very wearable pair of trousers. Please study the pictures before purchasing.

All in all a good pair of RAF OA trousers dating from just after the Second World War. They would fill a gap in a collection or could be used for re-enactment.
