Original 1946 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Tunic - Size 8

Code: 54596

SOLD

An original World War Two period Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Tunic in a size 8.

This pattern of tunic was introduced before WW2 and was worn throughout the conflict by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and a walking out uniform.

The jacket features brass King's crown RAF buttons as well as a brass waist buckle as are usually seen on this pattern of tunic. Wartime pattern printed economy eagle badges are fitted to the top of each sleeve and wartime semi embroidered leading aircraftman badges are fitted below these.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It states the size as No. 8 and the maker as 'James Smith & Co'. The 1946 date is also present as is the War Department broad arrow marking.

The tunic is in reasonable condition for its age and overall displays well. It shows only limited signs of wear and use but does have some flaws including a small hole to the left armpit, a hole to the left sleeve and a couple more to the front, all of which are illustrated in the pictures. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing as this is a vintage item with small issues commensurate with age.

A good jacket with its original insignia and label.
