A nice original 1942 dated pair of RAF Ordinary Airman's trousers in good condition and complete with their original label.
These trousers have all the attributes associated with early manufactured RAF OA items including the white cotton lining and stamped brass buttons. These were replaced with an indigo blue lining and black plastic buttons in 1943, making this the correct style of trousers for the early war period.
The original label is still present to the seat of the trousers but due to the original owner adding his serial number most of the details are no longer legible. There is a War Department acceptance stamp to the interior however which confirms 1942 as the year of issue.
The trousers will suit a 32" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 16"
Inside leg - 29"
The condition of the trousers is good as can be seen in the photographs. There are signs of wear and use but no serious flaws or damage. The two rear brace buttons have been changed from green coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) examples and the fly buttons have been changed for black plastic. Please take time to study these and bear in mind that they are a pre-owned, vintage item with some flaws commensurate with age.
Wartime examples of these trousers are now becoming very hard to find particularly in such good condition and with their original labels and all the correct stamps.
These trousers would undoubtedly compliment any wartime RAF collection.
