SOLD

An original 1942 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Khaki Drill Tunic in a size No. 7 which is in distressed condition.

Officially designated 'Frocks, Khaki Drill, Airmen (Simplified Pattern)', this pattern of jacket was worn by all members of the RAF up to the rank of Flight Sergeant throughout the Second World War. It is made from a tan coloured cotton drill and features pleated breast pockets with scalloped pocket flaps, lower pockets with large pocket flaps and notched lapels. The tunic is fitted with brass King's crown RAF buttons which are all held in place with brass split rings. To the top of each sleeve are tropical pattern RAF eagle badges which have been machine stitched to the jacket.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present. It states the size as No. 7 which is designed to fit a 35'' - 36" chest. The maker's name of 'E. Raffles & Co.  Ltd' is present as is the 1942 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.

The tunic is in dsitressed condition with lots of staining which is evident in the pictures. The cuffs have also been altered leaving visible stitch lines where it has been moved. This is reflected in the price but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

Altogether a very nice example of this pattern of tunic complete with its original label and WD acceptance stamp. This would be very hard to better!
