An original pair of 1942 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman’s Trousers with rare AV stamp.
This particular pair of trousers have the usual attributes which are associated with early war manufacture RAF OA Trousers. They feature a white lining and brass buttons to both the fly and around the top to fit braces. The majority of the fly buttons have been changed for horn which was common practice at the time as they are more comfortable to use than brass.
Inside the trousers feature a stamp to the white lined waistband which is the standard War Department broad arrow marking which is surmounted by the letter ‘O’ denoting 1942 as the year of manufacture.
When laid flat the trousers measure -
Waist - 16"
Inside leg - 29 1/2"
I would describe the condition of the trousers as well used. It is quite likely that these were are working pair as there is a small amount of staining and a couple of holes. They may benefit from a clean as I have left them in 'as found' condition. Please study the pictures as I have detailed the condition to the best of my ability.
A very original pair of trousers, clearly untouched since the Second World War. Whilst not the most perfect example, they ooze authenticity and would make a great addition to any RAF collection.
