Original 1941 RAF Ordinary Airman's Tunic - Size 4

Code: 53218

SOLD

An original RAF Ordinary Airman’s four pocket tunic complete with its belt and dated 1941.

This original tunic was the standard pattern worn by all men in the RAF under the rank of sergeant throughout the Second World War. It features a complete set of original brass Kings crown buttons as well as a matching waist belt. Semi-embroidered eagle badges are fitted to the top of each sleeve and RAF corporal stripes are fitted lower down. All the badges appear to be original to the jacket.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title 'Jackets, Airmen, Simplified Pattern'  below which is the size of 4 which is designed to fit a 34" - 35" chest and a 32" waist. The 1940 contract number is present as is the 1941 date, making this an early example. The original owner has also added his name in ink to the label which reads 'Cullun'.

The tunic is in good condition for its age as can be seen in the pictures. It shows only limited signs of age and wear and overall it displays very well. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

Overall a nice clean RAF jacket complete with its original waist belt and a nice clear early war date. Ideal for both the collector and re-enactor!
