Original 1941 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Tunic - Size 3

Code: 53210

SOLD

An original RAF Ordinary Airman’s four pocket tunic complete with its original belt and dated 9th January 1941.

This original tunic was the standard pattern worn by all men in the RAF under the rank of sergeant throughout the Second World War. It features a complete set of original brass Kings crown buttons as well as a matching waist belt.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the 1940 contract number to the top below which is the size of 3 which is designed to fit a 36" - 37" chest and a 33" waist. The maker's name of 'C.W.S. Mantle Factory, Manchester' is present which was a northern Cooperative workers society factory in the north of England. The date is marked in purple which is an issue stamp and makes this a very early jacket as it was issued on the 9th of January 1941.

The tunic is in good condition for its age as can be seen in the pictures. It shows only limited signs of age and wear and overall it displays very well. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

Overall a nice clean RAF jacket complete with its original waist belt and a nice clear early war date. Ideal for both the collector and re-enactor!
