An original RAF Ordinary Airman’s four pocket tunic complete with its belt dating from 1941.

This original tunic was the standard pattern worn by all men in the RAF under the rank of sergeant throughout the Second World War. It features a complete set of original brass Kings crown buttons as well as a matching waist belt. Early war pattern embroidered eagle badges are fitted to the top of each sleeve and Leading Aircraftman badges are fitted below this. A 'British Commonwealth Forces' formation badge is fitted to the right sleeve which denotes that the original owner served in the Far East immediately after the Second World War. All the badges are original to the jacket.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present and is still mostly legible. It bears the title 'Jacket Blue O.A. New Pattern' below which is the 1941 contract number. This pattern of jacket pre-dates the 'Simplified' pattern introduced in 1942. The size is also marked as 13 and the original owner has added his serial number and name to the label.

The tunic is in fairly good condition for its age as can be seen in the pictures. It shows only limited signs of age and wear and has some moth holes - namely to the front skirt (not seen when displayed as covered by other skirt flap) and to the rear of the belt. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

Overall a nice clean RAF jacket complete with its original waist belt and a nice clear, early war date. Ideal for both the collector and re-enactor!
