Original 1940s RAF Officers Khaki Drill Bush Jacket

Original 1940s RAF Officers Khaki Drill Bush Jacket

Code: 51651

SOLD

An original RAF Officer's Khaki Drill Tunic dating from the 1940s and in well worn condition.

This tunic appears to be a private purchase theatre made example as were worn by RAF Officers in the campaigns in the Middle East, Far East and Italy amongst others. Made from a khaki coloured cotton drill the tunic features RAF style scalloped pocket flaps, brass RAF kings crown buttons and loops on each shoulder to which RAF rank boards can be fitted.

Due to the fact that this is a private purchase example there are no labels or other markings making it impossible to date exactly. It is however typical of those seen during the Second World War and most likely does date from this period.

The tunic is a smaller size which will fit around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
Length - 31"

The tunic is in worn condition as can be seen in the pictures. It has clearly been laundered multiple times and has various areas of wear and staining. There is a repair to the rear which has split as shown in the pictures.

Whilst not the finest example it is none-the-less original and has a great 'been there' look about it!
