Original 1940s RAF Officer's Mess Dress Trousers by 'Burberry'

Code: 54080

SOLD

An original pair of Royal Air Force officer's mess dress trousers dating from around the time of the Second World War.

This pattern of trousers were worn with the full mess dress uniform before and after WW2 but was not used during the war years. It is quite possible that these trousers date from the late 1930s but could also date from the late 1940s as the construction did not change during this time. The trousers are cut in the traditional 'cavalry' style and feature a high rise waist, narrow leg with leather stirrups to the bottom which fasten with a metal buckle. The fly fastens with buttons and there are more buttons around the waist to which braces can be attached. These are all marked 'Burberry' and are made in a contrasting butterscotch colour.

The trousers will suit a 31" waist and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 15 1/2"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 21"
Inside leg - 31 1/2"
Outside leg - 45"
Cuff - 7"

The trousers are in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. They display well and are still very wearable but do have a black mark to the rear as illustrated in the pictures. Aside from that they are very clean on the whole but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-owned pair of trousers which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original pair of trousers by a well known maker.
