An original Royal Air Force Parachute Bag dating from the Second World War and in good condition.
These bags were used throughout the Second World War and are now synonymous with Aircrew, particularly Bomber Command, during this period.
The bag is made from a heavy khaki coloured canvas and features two reinforcing straps which run the entire circumference of the bag, becoming handles at the top. The bag fastens with a 'Flash' branded brass zipper as were commonly used on this pattern of bag. The bag features flaps to the interior and bears the War Department broad arrow marking to the outside and there is a circular stamp to the interior.
The bag is in reasonable condition with various signs of wear and use which are to be expected with a bag of this vintage. Both handles have frayed as detailed in the pictures. The zipper works as it should and overall the bag displays very well and retains a nice, deep orangey colour to the fabric. Please study the pictures before purchasing.
All in all a nice bag which displays well and has quite a fresh look. These are becoming rare and sought after bags and it would make a good addition to any collection.
