An original pair of RAF MK VIII Goggles in well used condition.
These goggles are arguably the most iconic of all RAF goggles and saw use with aircrews from 1942 well into the post-war years. They also saw action with USAAF crews, Fleet Air Arm and Coastal Command amongst others.
This particular pair are in used condition but do feature the curved edge to the brass frames which is associated with wartime manufactured goggles. The bridge piece also bears the sought-after Air Ministry marking to the leather although it is rather faint. The lenses are in reasonable condition and the frames retain a fair amount of the blue paint to the frames. There is some loss of stitching between the frames and the leather face pads which is evident in the pictures.
The original grey elastic strap is still present and retains its original leather pull tabs to the metal adjuster. The strap has had a piece of black elastic added which is clearly a period repair.
Overall a very genuine pair of original RAF goggles with the sought after curved frame and AM marking to the bridge.
