An original RAF G Type Oxygen Mask dating from the Second World War which comes complete with its original rare wartime pattern hose.

This pattern of oxygen mask was introduced into service in 1942 and stayed in use until late 1944 when it was replaced by the H Type Oxygen Mask making this a guaranteed wartime item. The mask is made from green rubber and is fitted with a Type 48 microphone which has the stores reference of 10A/12570 etched onto the front. The 10A marked rubber dust ring is still present to the outside of the microphone and the original harness is also intact. The bottom of the mask is marked 'Medium' and also bears the Air Ministry 'AM' marking which suggests this was made before 1944.

The mask displays well but shows signs of age and wear as they often do. The rubber is still a nice light green coloured and has darkened in places. The interior is soiled from wear and the edges of the mask are 'dog eared' as can be seen in the pictures. The wire nose clip is also not present although this is not uncommon to find. Please take time to study the pictures provided.

The mask comes complete with its original oxygen hose which is a rare original wartime example. Wartime hoses are made from a thinner rubber and are smaller in diameter than the more common post-war type. These are rare to find today and missing from many collections. The end of the hose is fitted with an adapter which could be changed for the MKIV pattern. The hose is in good condition and is still soft and pliable with no serious flaws.

A good original WW2 RAF Oxygen mask which would make a nice addition to any aviation collection.
