A very rare original RAF 'Lining of Suit Waterproof Working Suit' dating from the Second World War.

Whilst at first glance this suit looks like the standard sidcot suit liner used throughout most of WW2, it is infact a much rare item. It is thicker and more heavily built than sidcot liner although it is made from the same rayon material. These were produced in limited numbers to be worn as a liner inside the Suit Waterproof Working Suit. It features a metal zip which is maker marked 'DOT' and features the three stripe detail to the front of the zip puller which is often found on Air Ministry clothing from WW2. There is an opening at the crotch on the legs feature a stitch detail in a chevron pattern. There are tabs fitted to the chest and buttons at the cuff which fasten the lining into the outer suit.

The original label is still present inside the suit and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Lining of Suit Waterproof Working Suit' above which is the War Department broad arrow marking. Towards the bottom of the label is the RAF stores reference number of 22c/1044.

The suit is in good condition with some signs of age etc. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A very rare piece of RAF flying clothing from WW2 which is undoubtedly missing from many collections.
