An original WW2 United States Army HBT work shirt which has been used in the post Second World War period in France.

This shirt started life as a standard issue American herringbone twill shirt which appears to have seen service in the French Army in the post-war period. In the early post-war years, the French Army used a range of British and American uniform items as there were vast quantities available. This example has had the 'donut' buttons changed from dark brown plastic buttons as were used on a wide range of French Army clothing produced in the late 1940s and through the 1950s. The original owner has also added his name to the inside of the collar which would again suggest that this saw use with French Forces. The jacket is made from the standard green coloured herringbone twill material and features an open faced collar. There would have originally been buttons at the cuff and under the collar but these have been purposely removed and the holes have been machine stitched over.

The shirt will suit around a 42" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 24 1/2"
Inside arm - 22"
Outside arm - 23 1/4"
Shoulders - 20 1/2"
Length - 29"

The shirt is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. It has clearly been issued and worn but is still totally wearable and displays well. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice original post-war used shirt which has some great French conversion details.
