An original Norwegian Army camouflage zeltbahn shelter quarter/poncho in good condition.
This style of dual purpose shelter/poncho was popular with a number of European countries during the first half of the 20th Century. This example does not bear a date but is most likely from the 1950s, although it could be much earlier. These capes were designed to be buttoned together with three other similar examples to create a four man tent but could also be worn as a poncho. An opening in the neck (picture 2) allows it to be worn as such. The poncho is made from a cotton canvas and features a striking four way colour camouflage pattern of blue, brown, light brown and green. The inside of the cape is a plain white colour and can be worn or used with this side facing out in the snow. There is a single stamp to the interior which reads 'haeren' which is the Norwegian Army stamp.
The cape is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A nice original item with a striking camouflage pattern.
