An original French Army M1935 Motorcyclists coat in a size 6.
This pattern of coat was introduced in the middle of the 1930s and was intended to be worn by motorcyclist serving with in the French Army. It is made from a heavy cotton canvas material and features a single breasted front which fastens with the standard dome shaped green painted metal buttons often used on French Army garments from this era. The coat features a large collar which is typical of French coats from the 1930s. As well as this it features a matching waist belt which fastens with a simple slide buckle and both cuffs feature straps which feature the same style of buckle. Epaulettes are located to each shoulder and there is a hook and eye which fastens the collar at the neck.
Inside the coat there is a half lining as well as leg straps, one of which is missing its buckle. The maker's stamp is also present as is the size of 6.
These coats are cut in a loose, over-size manner which needs to be taken into account when studying the measurements. When laid flat the coat measures -
Chest - 28"
Shoulders - 21"
Length - 46"
The coat is in very good condition overall with only very limited signs of wear and age. There is a hole to the sleeve however which is illustrated and reflected in the price. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A good original example in a larger size.
