An original Spanish Army Tunic as worn in the Spanish Civil War and through the early 1950s.

This pattern first saw use in the 1930s with the Spanish Army and stayed in issue until the early 1950s. Sadly there is no clear date in this example so it is impossible to date it exactly.

The tunic is made from a heavy sanforised cotton very similar to that used for making British denim battledress in the same period. One of the most interesting parts of the design is the breast pocket flaps which are integral to the jacket itself. Removable epaulettes are located at each shoulder, a Norfolk style belt can be found at the waist and bellows pockets can be found to the lower portion of the jacket. The rear features a storm flap detail across the shoulders and the rear of the collar fastens with a button. The collar itself is typical of Spanish clothing of the time being large and featuring a spearpoint shape.

The tunic is a smaller size which will fit around a 36-38" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20 3/4"
Waist - 19"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 25 3/4"
Length - 30"
Shoulders 18 1/2"

The jacket is in excellent condition and appears to be unworn. The only flaw I can find is that one of the waist belt buttons is broken. It displays very well but is a vintage item so may have small issues commensurate with age. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

All in all a very nice example of this pattern of tunic!
