An original British Army 1937 Pattern webbing belt dating from the Second World War. This belt belonged to Major B D Ashton who was a member of the Royal Army Service Corps in the inter-war period and served throughout the Second World War. He was awarded the North Africa Star, Italy Star and France and Germany Star so he certainly saw some action.

This pattern of webbing belt came into issue with the British Army in 1938 and saw use throughout the Second World War. This example is Indian made as is evident by the construction to the reverse of the belt. Unlike the British made version these are stitched. It is most likely that the original owner got this belt whilst serving in North Africa or Italy as a lot of Indian made items were issued in those two theatres of war.

This example features all brass hardware so is suitable for any period of WW2. It has been blancod a pleasing light shade 97 which was a common colour used during the Second World War. The blanco applied is the powder form used in the conflict and not a later oil based version or similar.

The belt will fit a variety of waist sizes due to the fact that it is adjustable. When fully extended it measures 39" so should be a good fit for someone of a 32-36" waist potentially.

The belt is in good, used condition and displays well.

Whilst not dated, this is a guaranteed original wartime used belt.
