An original British Army 1908 pattern large pack dating from the Second World War.

Whilst the date inside this bag is not clear, the maker's stamp is one of the maker's who only produced webbing for the military during WW2 which dates this bag to being made between 1939 and 1945. All the fittings are brass rather than the steel fitting used from the mid-war period until the end of the war which again helps to date the bag.

This pattern of pack was introduced prior to the Great War as part of the 1908 pattern webbing. When the 1937 pattern webbing was developed in the late 1930s, this pattern of bag was retained and saw use throughout the Second World War and well into the post-war period.

This example comes complete with its two 'Straps, Supporting' which again feature brass parts.

The bag is in used condition with signs of wear and fading. The straps match this well and have clearly been with the bag for a very long time.

A nice original example which would compliment a desert or tropical set of equipment or display well.
