An original British Army rifle sling dating from the first half of the 20th Century which was used on a variety of weapons including the Lee Enfield SMLE and No.4 Rifles.
The sling is made from the standard khaki coloured webbing material used throughout the first half of the 20th Century. It has been blancoed a dark shade which is most likely KG3 and features all brass fittings. The original owner has marked his service number to one end which may offer the prospect of further research. Stamping items in this manner was popular in the Great War but not as common by the Second World War.
The sling is in good unissued condition with no signs of use. There is some marking/staining from storage however which is illustrated in the pictures.
A good original sling which would be ideal to complete a WW1 or WW2 period weapon.
