An original British Army rifle sling dating from the Second World War which was used on a variety of weapons including the Lee Enfield SMLE and No.4 Rifles.
The sling is made from the standard khaki coloured webbing material used throughout the first half of the 20th Century. It features style fittings rather than brass. This style of fitting was introduced as a wartime economy measure in the mid-war period. The sling is maker marked although it has been poorly stamped. This can just be seen in the first picture running along the bottom edge of the sling. The date appears to be 1942 or could be 1940.
The sling is in good unissued condition with no signs of use. There is some marking/staining from storage however which is illustrated in the pictures.
A good original sling which would be ideal to complete a WW2 period weapon.
