A rare original British Army Leather Jerkin clearly with a teddy bear fur lining.
This is an interesting pattern of leather jerkin which features a fur lining rather than the standard khaki green wool lining. There is eveidence of where the original label has been removed and below this is the Recondition Service Clothing label which was fitted to items which passed through the scheme before being re-issued. This accounts for extra patches and confirms the jerkin as a guarenteed wartime example.
The jerkin is made from the standard brown colour leather during this period and is made from pieces which is typical. It features a four button front and retains its original buttons. It is a smaller size which would have been labeled as a size 2. When laid flat the jerkin measures -
Chest - 22 1/2"
Shoulders - 20"
Length - 29 1/2"
The jerkin is in good condition for its age with some signs of wear and use. It displays well and still appears to be strong and wearable but does have wear to the leather which is illustrated in the pictures. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage item with small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original Leather Jerkin with a good clear label and date which is a rare pattern.
