Rare Original 1945 Dated British Army Officer's Macintosh Raincoat

Code: 54484

RESERVED

A rare original British Army officer's rubberised macintosh raincoat made in 1945.

This pattern of coat was produced during the Second World War for officers. It is made from a khaki coloured rubberised cotton material and features a single breasted closure with a fly covered front. There is a single exposed button at the top of the closure and a brass hook and eye is fitted to the collar which can be fastened around the wearer's neck. Flapped pockets are located to the upper portion of the skirt and brown painted metal eyelets are fitted under each arm to allow for air to circulate. The coat retains its original matching belt which fastens with a single prong leather covered metal buckle.

Inside the coat the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Macintoshes, Officers' and the size of 11. The maker's name of 'Eli Glassberg & Co Ltd' is present as is the 1945 date and the War Department broad arrow. There is also a stamp which bears the maker's name, size and date, located towards the collar.

The coat is in excellent condition and is still soft and pliable. It displays well with only limited signs of wear and age.

A very hard to find coat in excellent condition and with a nice clear date.
