Original WW2 Theatre Made British Officers Khaki Drill Shirt

Original WW2 Theatre Made British Officers Khaki Drill Shirt

Code: 51985

SOLD

An original 1940s British military officers shirt made in Alexandria and in well worn condition.

This shirt was also most certainly purchased by a British officer whilst either stationed or on leave in Alexandria. Officers of the British Army, RAF and Royal Navy bought a lot of their uniforms 'private purchase' and this is no exception.

The shirt is made from a lightweight khaki coloured brushed cotton and features a lovely spearpoint collar as was popular in the 1930s and 1940s. Pleated patch pockets are fitted to the chest and epaulettes can be found at the shoulders both of which feature fantastic corozo buttons. Inside the shirt the original tailors label is still present and features typical period graphics.

The shirt is a large size which will fit someone of around a 40-42" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat the shirt measures -

Chest - 23 1/2"
Length at front - 28"
Length at back - 31"
Shoulders - 18 1/4"

The shirt is in well worn condition with plenty of signs of wear and use. The collar has been repaired with a patch of cotton drill but the rear of the collar is in good condition meaning it may be possible to 'turn' the collar and smarten up the shirt. There is another repair patch to the shoulder and various stains and marks as can be seen in the pictures. The condition is reflected in the price.

This is a highly quality period shirt which sadly has seen a lot of action. It has a great label and would be a very good addition to any North Africa collection or similar.
