A nice original pair of Second World War period British Khaki Drill Shorts.
These shorts, like the majority of KD items, are theatre made and quite likely Indian. The British Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy were all supplied with KD manufactured in India such as this whilst serving in the Middle and Far East as the supply chains were shorter than shipping clothing from England.
This particular pair of shorts are typical of the era featuring a double pleated front, slash pockets on each hip, waist adjusters and belt loops. The fly fastens with buttons as is usual at this point and features three stamped metal buttons to the top which would indicate early manufacture.
The shorts are a smaller size measuring 14 1/4" across the waist.
These shorts clearly saw plenty of use and have a plethora of patches and repairs as well as other signs of wear. Please study the pictures to get a clear idea of condition.
Whilst not the most perfect pair of shorts ever, they certainly have plenty of character and life left in them!
