An original Second World War period Officers Greatcoat which belonged to an officer of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.
This pattern of coat was used for many years by British Officers from the time of the Great War all the way through to the 1950s. This particular example has all the hallmarks of a WW2 period example. It is made from a heavy khaki melton wool fabric and lined with rayon. It features two flapped pockets to the outside and a half belt to the rear. The coat is fitted with brass King's crown Royal Warwickshire buttons throughout. A particularly nice feature is the infantry Arm of Service stripes which are fitted to the top of each sleeve. These are typically seen on early - mid war coats.
The coat is a smaller size which will fit around a 38" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 26 3/4"
Shoulders - 19 1/2"
Length - 52 1/2"
The coat is in very good condition for its age with some signs of wear and use. There is some limited damage to the skirt as illustrated in the pictures but overall it displays very well indeed. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues consummate with its age.
A nice original infantry officers greatcoat.
