An original Indian made British Jungle Green Bush Jacket clearly dating from the latter part of the Second World War.
The shirt is made from cellular cotton which is often referred to as 'Aertex'. It is a lightweight, breathable fabric ideally suited to the tropics and was popular with the British military during WW2. Like so much clothing supplied to the Far East, this shirt was manufactured in India. It features the typical Indian buttons, stitching and stamps found on wartime items. The circular date stamp used on Indian made during the period is present although it is slightly faded. It appears to show the date as 1945. There is also a size stamp which reads '13'.
The shirt is a small size which will fit around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 20 1/2”
Inside arm - 23”
Outside arm - 25”
Shoulders - 16”
Length at back - 31”
The shirt is in very good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are no real signs of previous wear or laundering and all the original buttons are intact. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
All in all this is an excellent example of this pattern of shirt!
